Smart Money Month includes lots of KC-area events.
April is Smart Money Month, and the Kansas City area has dozens of events scheduled to help people get better educated about their personal finances.
Sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Commerce Bank,CommunityAmerica Credit Union,PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and several other local financial services companies, not for profits and others, Smart Money Month of Greater Kansas City has educational events slated virtually every day of the month.
The events include free tax preparation, home buyer education, managing and understanding your credit, identity theft protection tips, retirement planning, educating children about money, budgeting and many other topics.
Last year, the Kansas City area hosted 631 Smart Money Month events, reaching about 17,000 people.
“Even though our focus is on the month of April, there are also activities held throughout the year,” the organization posted on its website. “Programming is offered to all ages and income levels and covers all areas of personal finance from establishing a budget to first-time home buying to estate planning.”
